Floor Tech Supervisor (Working Supervisor)

Department: Operations

Reports To: Operations Manager and Executive Director

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

General Summary of the Position

Directly supervise and coordinate activities of floor techs/custodial helpers. Perform supervisory functions related to job and cost accounting. Will also be engage in the same work as the Floor tech's under your supervision. Other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions

1. Act as liaison with customer. Provide calculations on hours involved to get job done, materials needed, along with truck.

2. Communicate to Head of Operations/Executive Director any priority projects or problems, such as employee or job costing issues and complaints from the customer.

3. Ensure that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed bring problems to the attention of the HR Manager.

4. Coordinate, direct and lead workers engaged in floor activities. Assign work to employees, using material and worker requirements.

5. Supervise crews to obtain top quality workmanship, efficiency, employee satisfaction, morale, communication, commitment, teamwork and pride.

6. Review and verify employee time clock and submit approval to Payroll Officer if needed on specified days (if something was wrong with clock in system). Ensure that hours are assigned properly.

7. Suggest and initiate personnel actions, such as promotions, transfers, hires, oral and written counseling and training requirements. Adhere to the company's Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Policy when taking part in any employment action or decision, such as hiring, job assignment, layoff or termination. Discuss any action with HR Manager prior to taking action.

8. Analyze and resolve worker problems and recommend motivational plans to President and HR Manager.

9. Regularly communicate with Operations Assistant on work needs of custodial staff about, repairs, maintenance needs, and all custodial jobs assigned by Operations Assistant.

10. Relate to the employees, co-workers and to the customers in a professional, courteous and respectful manner, appropriately responding to their complaints.

11. Assemble Daily Procedures & Protocols as directed and discussed with Head of Operations/Executive Director in SOP format.

Frequent contacts with President/Executive Director/Head of Operations, Operations Assistants, Vice- President, Hr Manager, trade workers, customers and members of the public.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

1. Basic knowledge of supervisory and people skills. Must be able to plan, allocate resources, manage production and coordinate people and equipment.

2. Knowledge of materials, methods and the tools involved in floor and custodial work.

3. Knowledge of equal opportunity and affirmative action principles and procedures for employment actions such as hiring, training and employee relations.

4. Strong coordination, time management, active listening, oral and written expression and comprehension, critical thinking and reasoning skills.

5. The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong'to recognize problems when they occur and to work toward the solution of those problems.

6. Must have a clean driving record.

7. A minimum of two to four years of related skill, knowledge or experience is needed and must include related on-the-job training.

8. Experience and training must include methods, techniques, equipment and hands-on experience in a supervisory position.

9. High school degree or equivalent.

10. Must be able to perform custodial work in offices, warehouses, industrial areas, and other building interiors.
